Flint Public Health Navigator

Location: Flint

Part-time, Temporary (6 months) 
Compensation: $15 an hour

Job Summary

The Michigan United grassroots Public Health Navigator program has been in partnership with the Genesee County Health Department since its inception in May 2020. The work of our Navigators is incredibly important as we enter the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in light of the urgent need for large-scale vaccination to overcome the virus. Many of the communities that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 have the least access to information and resources to protect themselves and their families.

Detroit Public Health Navigator

Location: Detroit

Communications Director

Location: Metro-Detroit

Full-Time

Salary: $60,000

The Communications Director (CD) will work to control the public narrative around our campaigns through the use of earned, paid and social media to deliver strategic messages. This work will involve developing and executing a communications strategy for each campaign issue and working with staff and volunteers to carry them out day to day. They will not only be able to respond quickly to emerging events that affect fluid campaigns at the state and national level, but also be proactive in developing messaging in anticipation of changes to the current state of play. The CD will consult with organizers to plan direct actions and other events to draw press attention, mobilize leaders, and generate engaging images and videos. They will prepare leaders and staff to talk with the press about the issues we organize on and how they impact their lives. The CD will generate press releases and advisories, make pitch calls, and develop relationships with various media outlets across the state. The CD will track and catalog all resulting press coverage. They will also manage crisis communications for the organization.

Executive Assistant

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Full-time

Compensation: $40,000

A successful Executive Assistant will provide complex calendar management, exercise discretion and judgment to prioritize complicated and challenging schedules appropriately, respond to frequent schedule changes, and set scheduling priorities. The Executive Assistant will understand and share our values and vision for justice and dignity for all people. Multilingual candidates are a plus.

Democracy Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit preferred (currently working remotely)

Full-time, temporary

Compensation: $40,000 annualized equivalent, health insurance, health savings account, generous paid time off, two-month paid sabbatical after 4 years of service, phone and internet stipends. See below for a fuller description of benefits.

The Democracy Organizer will work on these issue areas with leaders that currently exist while organizing new leaders to be a part of this discussion and to take action. The focus is to find and engage those who might not always be involved in these conversations, but whose voices are desperately needed to ensure their communities aren’t left behind while these decisions are being made.

Movement Politics Organizer

Location: Metro Detroit Preferred

Movement Politics is an innovative way of looking at elections as opportunities to build people power and dramatically transform our economic and political system. Reporting to the Director of Movement Politics, the Movement Politics Organizer will work with our leaders and organizers across the state to build our leadership development program and help design as well as implement our 2021/2022 election strategy
