Post Election Day
Many people (a record 2.7 million requested mail-in ballots in Michigan) are voting by mail this year due to COVID-19. This means that election day will be different than normal.
-
Absentee ballots will not be counted until on and after election day.
-
The results of this election will take longer than normal to be finalized. Some officials have said that results might not be finalized until at least Friday of election week.
-
Uncertainty and misinformation surrounding mail-in voting and the counting process is likely to cause confusion and unrest.
-
There will likely be attempts to delegitimize the results of the election based on criticizing votes counted after the election.
It is very important that we, as citizens, demand that every vote be counted. No one’s valid, lawful vote should be thrown out.
